Album Music For Your Movies by Pram Review
Recorded for Stereolab's Duophonic Super 45s label, Music for Your Movies occasionally recalls its hosts more playful, jazzy moments, but make no mistake-these four songs capture Pram at their most fiercely original and weirdly beautiful, making music quite unlike anyone else. Rosie Cuckston's vocals are more controlled and delicate here than on previous releases, and the melodies and rhythms maintain a newfound focus even as they branch off in directions that are both completely unexpected and perfectly natural. The cinematic elements promised by the title are here in abundance as well, and even at just four songs, Music for Your Movies may well represent Pram's richest, most rewarding work-it's like how circus music would sound if everything under the big top were as scary as the clowns.
